RICHARD BOTCHWAY

'Butch' as he is popularly known joined Westend from Lamb Inn when they dropped out of the District League.  A very experienced defender, a good passer of the ball with superb vision and tactical knowledge.  Very quiet off the field but is never short of a word or two during a match.  Likes to referee the game as well as play but the decibel level has definitely gone down since joining Westend.

OLIVER HAYDEN-MALPASS

A tall strong confident player who could develop into a very good striker.  Gaining valuable experience in the Reserve team having played in a number of positions so far this season.  Needs to improve his  passing ability and be more aware of what is happening around him on the pitch.  One of a crop of excellent young prospects at the Club. The future is very bright indeed at Westend!

GAVIN BUCKNOR

Gav can be a match winner on his day but is not consistent enough to maintain a regular first team place.  Lightning quick and a good finisher with excellent ball skills.  Needs to string some good performances together in the Reserve team to push for a regular first team spot.  He is now at the age when he should be reaching his full potential at the Club.

ANDY MELLOR

Strong powerful midfielder who played in our Junior section for many years.  Excellent header and fearsome tackler who has settled very comfortably into the First Team squad.  Needs to get on the score sheet more often but not easy to do from his midfield anchor role.  Will be a positive influence in the team when the going gets heavy during the Winter months

NICK DYSON

Another very promising prospect from the junior ranks.  Enjoys playing up front and has the pace and ability to cause problems for defenders.  Should be pushing for a Reserve team place this season and may well be given a chance in the First team if he continues to make the progress  expected by the management.

JOHN VENTERS

JV entered the Westend Hall Of Fame when he became only the second player to reach the 100 appearances milestone.  A tremendously quick right winger who has provided many 'assists' during his career.  Unfortunately work commitments have made it difficult for him to play regularly.

Spot anybody still playing at Westend?

DORRAN NOEL

"Mr Versatile" - Doz can play anywhere on the pitch including goalkeeper.  Has been a regular member of the first team for many seasons.  Always gives 100% and very rarely turns in a bad performance.  Travels over from Lancashire to play and train every week.  Not a regular goal scorer but has been known to pop up with a vital strike every so often.

CHRIS HAMPSON

23 years old Chris is a  player who has improved tremendously over the last two seasons.  Now needs to play with  confidence and demand the ball much more - especially if playing in the midfield area.  Needs to do the simple things well!

PEARCE HEGGIE

Another player who has come on leaps and bounds over the last twelve months.  Very rarely misses training and never gives less than 100%.  A play anywhere type who will probably develop into a striker providing he can improve his first touch and add some aggression to his game.

JOE WHITELEY

One of the most popular characters at Westend, Joe has been a Westend player since the age of four.  A talented sportsman who sets a superb example to other players  in training and on match days.  A left footer who is equally at home in defence or attack.  Currently playing in the Reserve team but has played well in a number of first team appearances.

AARON BAXTER

A genuine play anywhere very popular one club man!  A very talented, tough tackling youngster who sets a terrific example to his team mates with his non stop effort and work rate.  Enjoys playing in midfield but is equally at home in defence.  He will become a regular first team player for many years to come.

DARREN HAIGH

One of the most improved players at the Club.  Very rarely misses training and is able to play in a number of positions.  Currently playing in the 'A' team but if he continues to maintain the progress he has made to date he should be pushing for a reserve team place over the next couple of years.

FRANK O.DION

Born in Nigeria Frank is one of the most popular players at the Club.  A very fast striker, he entered the Westend Hall Of Fame by scoring the winning goal in the 2006 Groom Cup Final.  Although he has been known to miss a few chances he has finished top scorer for  the First Team on five occasions.

NIALL HOLLINGWORTH

Niall has made tremendous progress since moving from the Junior section into Open Age football. Looks like settling into the right back spot but has the ability to play midfield as well.  Excellent passer of the ball and reads the game well for someone so young.  Will become a very accomplished player when he has  strengthened out and is able to cope with the physical demands of District League football.

NATHAN LOCKWOOD

Only sixteen years old he  had his first taste of Division Two action recently and acquitted himself very well indeed.  Needs to go on Ricky's steak and eggs diet if he wants to challenge for a regular first team place. Excellent ball control and a very good passer with good vision.  Another  very exciting prospect who has come through the Westend Juniors team.

JAMES BASEFORD

James has made the transition from Under 16 football to    the District League very easily indeed.  Played a lot of his junior career in between the sticks but has the speed and skill to become a very good attacker.  The management are very confident that if he maintains the progress he has made to date he will be a First team player within two years.

TOM MELLOR

A talented midfielder who has already impressed in the first team.  One of a trio of brothers who all  played for Westend  in the RCD Junior League.  Tom is a very confident player with excellent vision and passing ability.  Deservedly won the POS with the Reserve team last season.

JOSH WALTERS

Another player from the exciting crop of youngsters who have come through the Junior section at Westend FC.  Versatile  footballer who prefers to play up front and has a good shot with either foot.  At Preston University but intends to get back every Saturday to play in the District League.

                    JORDAN PARKER

Nineteen years old Jordan gained valuable experience with the 'A' team last season and turned in a number of very impressive performances.  Has a great first touch and excellent dribbling skills but needs to be more aware of the position of his team mates and know when to pass the ball.

JAMES GRALEY

A left footed player who is a great crosser of the ball and can also score the occasional goal.  Likes playing midfield but lacks the fitness needed for this position.  His best displays have been from the left back position.  Will relish the challenge of fighting for a First team place this season.

DAVE LEES

A tall strong experienced 25 years old defender who is also a very competent goalkeeper.  Currently playing in the reserve team but needs to string some consistent performances together if he wants to step up to First team action this season.

STEVE BATLEY

A good clubman who never gives less than 100% in whatever position he is asked to play.  A very consistent defender who is an excellent header of the ball.  Has made a number of first team appearances.  Only twenty one years old - his best years are yet to come.

SEAN DELEE

Another  excellent prospect from the Junior section.  A naturally talented left footer who can also play in goal.

Has played goalkeeper for all three teams and if he continues to improve he will soon be taking over as the number one keeper at the Club.

WILL JENNINGS

Another of a very talented bunch of teenagers at the Club.  He gained a lot of experience playing in the 'A' team last season.  He is rated very highly by the management team and should be pushing for a first team place during the coming season.
